Night Sky

I lay on my bed,
waiting for sleep to capture me.
My mind struggling to stop thinking,
and my eyes shut tightly, hoping to sleep.

When I did fall asleep, I didn’t know.
But I didn’t sleep well.
In my quest to sleep well at least once,
I cast away an important object.
A sacrifice I felt, would bring me sleep.

Sacrifices made, objects lost.
Thoughts put to use; good use I may add.
Words read, words written.
Moving images gazed at.
Several yawns, several sleepless nights later…
I am still sleepless.
